WASHINGTON - A strong earthquake rattled the Gulf of Mexico region on Sunday, the US Geological Survey reported.
No casualties were immmediately reported.
The epicenter of the 5.8 magnitude quake was located in the ocean some 400 kilometers (251 miles) southwest of Tampa, Florida, and some 530 kilometers (330 miles) southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana.
The quake struck just before 1600 GMT, the service said.
