BANDIRMA - Turkey, as an energy terminal, has a strategic location from north to south, and east to west," Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during the inauguration of Bandirma WindPower Plant (BARES) on Monday.
"Turkey is very rich in alternative energy resources. This power plant proves this," he added.
Erdogan noted that BARES will increase Turkey`s wind power generation capacity from 20 megawatt to 50 megawatt. "Such facilities are very important environmentally, as well as from the point of diversifying Turkey`s energy resources. This power plant will produce 120-million kilowatt-hour energy annually. This amount can meet electricity need of Bandirma with a population of 97.000," Erdogan stressed.

-ENERGY PROJECTS-

Stressing the importance of Blue Stream Project and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project, Erdogan said that Turkey has become an attractive center thanks to these projects.
Erdogan also recalled that the agreement on Nabucco project was signed in June 2006, adding that natural gas will be transferred to EU countries via Turkey through this pipeline. He noted that Turkey would become a new energy bridge towards the EU.
