In an editorial published in today's Hurriyet daily, columnist Fatih Cekirge argues that PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan will start taking his first steps towards the Cankaya Presidential Palace, while FM and Deputy PM Abdullah Gul would (eventually) become the Prime Minister --after the congress of the Justice & Development Party (AKP).
Based on impressions he got during the Victory Day reception on August 30th and the selective information he received from Ankara's "most serious lobbies" within the Justice & Development Party (AKP), Cekirge notes that the people close to PM Erdogan think that he rightly deserves to become the next Turkish President. Cekirge adds that even "brainstorming" have been started in order to eliminate obstacles that may arise on his way.
Cekirge also emphasizes the justification concerning the presidency of Erdogan with these words: "Sezer causes a serious loss of time by sending the draft-laws back (to the government for revision). The government's speed has been slowing down. If Erdogan enters the Presidential Palace, the speed of action will be doubled thanks to the harmony between the government and Cankaya (presidential palace)."
