20 THOUSAND BIOGRAPHIES IN HEZBOLLAH
General Director of Security Gokhan Aydiner announced the unbelievable reality behind the terrorist Hezbollah organization: ''20 thousand people gave their biographies and joined the Hezbollah organization saying that it was the party of the God.'' Aydiner, who witnessed many historic events in Turkey, searched many terrorist organizations, dealt with many intelligence, the first ''war coordinator'' of Turkey, and the last Emergency Rule (OHAL) Regional Governor, spoke to journalists. Aydiner said, ''I was terrorized by the Hezbollah briefing given by Gaffar Okkan. The philosophy of the organization was to establish a state based on Shariah. I charged Diyarbakir Police Department to form an information bank those days. In the end, we totally got rid of Hezbollah's targets. There are currently 102 organizations excluding KADEK, including 9 fundamentalist and 93 extreme leftist.''

SPECIAL INTEREST OF WORLD
Congratulatory messages came from whole world to Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who held his first regular congress as the ruling party. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has a close relationship with Prime Minister Erdogan, said that AK Party worked for civil and economic growth on the road to full integration with the European Union (EU). Angela Merkel, the Chairperson of the German Christian Democrat Union (CDU) which is one the leading parties of the Conservatives in Europe, also sent a message to AK Party congress. AK Party had earlier applied to the Union. Merkel said that they could have continued the dialogue process launched in Berlin if she had come to Turkey for the congress and she could at the same time have had opportunity to learn about AK Party.

SEZER TO ATTEND OIC SUMMIT TOGETHER WITH WIFE, ARABS WITHOUT WIVES
Host country Malaysia invited all first ladies to the 10th Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference to take place between October 16 and 18. But, only five of 57 Muslim countries responded positively to the invitation. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer's wife Semra Sezer is one of those who responded positively to the invitation. But, none of spouses of Arab leaders gave a positive response to the call.

FRIGHTENING LIST
According to the organization named global earthquake safety, Istanbul is the second city in the world where the highest number of people will die. The report of the organization gives answers to the question on how many people die in cities in a possible earthquake. The results of the report are frightening for Turkey. Katmandu ranks the first in the list of mortality rate in a possible earthquake. The report predicted the number of people who will die in a possible earthquake in Katmandu as 70 thousand. The report estimated the number of people who will die in an earthquake in Istanbul as 55 thousand and in Izmir as 12 thousand 500.

''WE SHOULD INCLUDE TURKEY''
German Foreign Minister Fischer extended big support to Turkey's European Union (EU) membership. Statement that Fischer made in Washington in 2002 was interpreted that ''Germany was against Turkey's membership.'' But, Fischer made a statement recently that Turkey's inclusion in EU was a historic obligation. Fischer noted that those who did not fulfil that obligation would pay a very big cost.

ERDOGAN RENOVATES IMAGE OF PARTY
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was re-elected as the leader of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), gave priority to women and young people in the Central Decision and Executive Board of his party. Erdogan made the list of the Central Decision and Executive Board on his own under an authority foreseen by the party regulation. Erdogan did not include 24 people who were the members of the board, including four ministers Hilmi Guler, Ali Coskun, Osman Pepe and Vecdi Gonul. Erdogan included 10 women and young people to the board.

BAHCELI INFLUENTIAL
Devlet Bahceli, who was re-elected as leader of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) with 688 votes, did not make any self-sacrifice and criticized the government. MHP leader Bahceli did not mention November 3 defeat in his speech but criticized the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government.

TUSIAD WARNS AGAINST IMAM HATIP HIGH SCHOOLS
Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) drew attention that imam hatip high schools which gave theological education should have a status like that of vocational high schools and said, ''sufficient number of imam hatip high schools should continue education in order to meet need of imams in Turkey. The rest imam hatip high schools should be turned into normal high schools.''

OPERATION OF GENDARMERIE IN TOKAT
Four militants of the illegal extreme leftist MKP/HKO organization were killed in operations in Black Sea province of Tokat. The operation was staged in coordination of Tokat, Ankara and Istanbul security forces. A statement of Gendarme General Command said that one member of the organization was followed by gendarme forces and captured in Tokat's Zile town. Four militants were killed and their weapons were seized in clash that occurred between security forces and terrorists.

U.S.-AXIS WATER POLICY
As the United States became de facto neighbor of Turkey after Iraq war, Ankara renewed its ''water'' policy. The new policy foresees that water will be used together with neighbor countries.

WARM WEATHER ON THE WAY
Cold and rainy weather has started to lose its influence in Turkey. Turkey will welcome the new week by a warm and sunny weather. Temperatures will be above normal seasonal temperatures.

PRIME MINISTER: QUARREL ENDED THANKS TO US
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was the only nominee in the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Congress, was re-elected as the leader of the party. Erdogan said that quarrel ended in Turkey after AK Party came to power.
Cemal Kaya, Republican People's Party (CHP) Agri parliamentarian, joined AK Party.
Stating that difficulties brought by the atmosphere in Iraq after war still prevailed, Erdogan said, ''we think that we should do what was necessary to make Iraq people reach peace and stability soon.''

GENERAL STAFF POSTPONES METING ON IRAQ
Meeting, which General Staff was expected to hold on dispatch of soldiers to Iraq, was postponed as the congresses occupied Turkey's agenda.

IRAQ IS THE AGENDA ITEM OF OIC SUMMIT
Ministerial Preparatory Meeting of the 10th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) will start in Malaysia today.
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will represent Turkey at the meeting.

ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY TO SHAKE GOVERNMENT
University rectors and lecturers, who oppose to Higher Education Draft Law, are getting ready to march toward Anitkabir, Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founder of Modern Turkish Republic, on October 25.
It was reported that new activities were planned in Istanbul University.
A dean from Marmara University said those activities would aim to topple the government.

WEPZA TO MEET IN ISTANBUL
The World Economic Processing Zones Association (WEPZA) will hold its 25th General Assembly meeting in Istanbul on October 19, 2003 under the leadership of WEPZA Chairman Kursad Tuzmen.
Foreign Trade Undersecretariat released a statement that experts coming from United States, Europe, Middle East and Africa would hold a conference between October 20-21.
