ANKARA/ISTANBUL - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul left on Sunday for Malaysia to attend the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting of the 10th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Prior to his departure, Gul told reporters that all issues concerning the Islam world, particularly political, economic, cultural, commercial and scientific issues, would be debated in the summit.
Gul said that the first article of agenda would be Iraq issue. He noted that Israel's bombardment on a camp in Syria and Palestinian issue would also be taken up in the summit.
He would have bilateral meetings with heads of state and delegations of many countries during the summit, Gul noted.
Gul stated that many issues and problems that the Islam world was facing would be taken up during the summit.
Separate committees had worked on political, legal, economic, commercial, cultural and scientific issues, Gul pointed out.
Gul said that Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) was held on October 11 and 12 and Foreign Ministry officials had gone to Malaysia beforehand to attend that meeting.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer would leave Turkey for Malaysia on October 15 to attend the 10th Islamic Summit to be held on October 16-18, Gul pointed out.
Gul emphasized that Sezer's participation in the summit was important since he was the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation (COMCEC) of OIC.
OIC ministerial meeting would be held in Istanbul in the following year, Gul added.
