ISTANBUL - Protests were held in Istanbul on Sunday against the parliamentary decision to send soldiers to Iraq.

A group of people who are members of Socialist Democracy Party (SDP) shouted slogans in Kadikoy district of Istanbul. When police intervened with the group, some of the group members threw stones on the police. Police detained 27 persons.

In another protest, eight persons who attempted to hold an illegal demonstration in front of Harbiye officer's club to protest sending soldiers were also detained.
