BERLIN - Turkey's former ambassador in Bonn and Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Onur Oymen said on Friday that Turkey and the European Union (EU) had problem on security issue.

Delivering a speech at a meeting on strategy of EU to bring Turkey closer to itself in political, economic and legal fields held in Bremen, Germany, Oymen said, ''we cannot reach consensus on security issue with EU. There is a problem between Turkey and EU. We know that Germany does not show tolerance to terrorism, but we want Germany to prove it.''

Stating that the biggest problem of the world was terrorism, Oymen recalled that Turkey which lost its 30.000 citizens due to terrorism always expressed the necessity of fight against terrorism.

Oymen said, ''PKK was included in the list of terrorist organizations which was prepared by the United States. But, it was not included in the list which was prepared by the EU. As a result of our efforts for three-four months, EU also put PKK into the list. PKK changed its name as KADEK on the same day. The United States also put KADEK into the list, however EU did not put it into the list yet. It is very important for us. Our biggest security concern stems from it.''

Stating that when Turkey was fulfilling reforms, it wanted more support from the EU, Oymen said that heads of states and governments of France, Britain and Germany did not pay a visit to Turkey for a long time.

Oymen said that when the other candidate countries were extended great support, Turkey was not extended a considerable support and added, ''we don't want a special treatment. EU should behave us equally.''

Social Democrat Party deputy and German-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group deputy chairman Johannes Kahrs said that Turkey's EU membership would be to the interest of Europe and stated that criteria which were shown to other candidate countries should also be valid for Turkey.

Kahrs said that Turkey should fulfil its responsibilities and stated that Turkey should solve Cyprus issue, prevent bribery and improve rights of minority.
