ISTANBUL - Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) hosted on Friday luncheon in honor of Austrian Minister of Economic Affairs and Labor Martin Bartenstein.
Bartenstein and accompanying delegation of businessmen, who are in Turkey for the Turkey-Austria Joint Economic Commission (JEC) Fourth Term Meeting, attended working lunch organized by Turkish-Austrian Business Council functioning under umbrella of DEIK.
Speaking in the luncheon, Bartenstein informed participants about his meetings with Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu and State Minister Ali Babacan.
Bartenstein said that he and Babacan exchanged views about projects that could be carried out between two countries in energy, finance of those projects and Turkey's macro-economic structure.
Stating that Turkey was on the right track, Bartenstein said that he saw Turkey's position in European Union (EU) process as positive.
Bartenstein noted that Turkey should complete its privatization initiatives in energy and telecommunication till the end of 2003.
Austria, which was experienced in energy and telecommunication, could cooperate with Turkey, Bartenstein stated.
Pointing out that cooperation in every field could be possible between two countries, Bartenstein said that trade should be increased between two countries and there was need for reciprocal visits and meetings to reach that target.
