Reaching 6.5 Percent Primary Surplus Target Is Sine Qua Non Condition For Government

ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Friday that reaching 6.5 percent primary surplus target for 2004 was the sine qua non condition for the government.
Replying to questions of reporters after his meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam, Unakitan hoped that their talks would be concluded in the possible shortest time.
Unakitan stressed that they took up both the budget of 2003 and 2004 in their meeting.
Both Turkey and the IMF were trying to solve the problems during ongoing talks, Unakitan said.
Upon a question on budget of 2004, Unakitan said that the target of government was to reach the primary surplus target of 6.5 percent.
Unakitan noted that they would take every measure to reach their target.
