GAZIANTEP - Turkey's exports in August 2006 reached 6.9 billion USD, said sources. "There has been an increase of 27.1 percent in Turkish exports compared to August, 2005," said Oguz Satici, Chairman of Exporters Council of Turkey (TIM), on Friday.
In a press conference attended by Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen, TIM Chairman Satici indicated that an increase of 15.7 percent (or 53.8 billion USD) was recorded in exports in January-August (8 months) period of 2006, over the same period of last year.
According to Satici, exports between August '05 and August '06 amounted 80.7 billion USD.
Meanwhile, Kursad Tuzmen stressed that, if Turkey maintains the actual trend exports at the end of 2006 may very well reach 84 billion USD.
"We are the 22nd biggest exporter in the world," asserted Tuzmen.
