BAYONETS TO BE USED IF NECESSARY
The United Nations have prepared a list of regulations that must be followed by the peacekeeping force in Lebanon. According to these regulations, Turkish troops may get involved in clashes and must use bayonets if necessary.
AUTO PRODUCTION INCREASES BY 37 PERCENT
Despite fluctuations in the market and slow auto sales in July, the total number of autos produced in July was over 52,000. According to the Automotive Industry Association (OSD), the production of autos in July increased by 37.1 percent compared to the same term last year. In the first eight months of 2006, 329,131 autos were produced.

TOLL PRICES INCREASE
Toll prices at the FSM and Bogazici bridges in Istanbul has increased to 4YTL from 3YTL. Highway tolls have increased by 50 percent. The minimum highway toll is 1.5YTL.
TURKISH EXPORTS WORTH 80 BILLION USD
Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen has indicated that Turkey's exports in the past 12 months have been worth 80 billion USD. "Our target of 79 billion USD has been passed," said Tuzmen.

Adnan Paputcu, Director of IklimSA, has said that the Turkish air-conditioner market grows 4 times more compared to global markets. "All air-conditioner sales have risen by 40 percent compared to 2005," noted Paputcu.

MILITARY BARGAINING
Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Staff are bargaining with the United Nations over the region where Turkish troops may be deployed. Turkish Armed Forces want a low-risk region for duty in Lebanon. The number of Turkish troops to be dispatched will depend on the region in Lebanon.
"SEND YOUR OWN CHILDREN"
Leaders of the Turkish oppositin parties have made a call to all ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP) deputies to send their own children to Lebanon as peacekeeping troops. Many opposition leaders believe that sending Turkish troops to Lebanon is actually getting into a swamp, fire.

CIVIL SERVANTS REACT TO 5 PERCENT INCREASE IN SALARIES
Turkish civil servants and their unions reacted harshly to a 5 percent increase in salaries. One union official said that they will conduct certain activities that will force the government to give a higher increase in salaries.

Turkish Red Crescent has provided aid to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan in the recent past. Tekin Kucukali, Chairman of the Turkish Red Crescent, said that they go everywhere where humanitarian assistance is desperately needed. "We help people regardless of their religion, language or ethnicity. We are a bridge between the Turkish people and other peoples," noted Kucukali.

Namik Tan, Spokesman of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, said that Turkish troops will not go to Lebanon to disarm any group. "Our troops will go to Lebanon to help the Lebanese people live in peace," noted Tan.

According to a research in Turkey, Turks spend nine billion USD on cigarettes annually. The same research found out that at least 44 percent of all adults are cigarette addicts.

World famous Japanese soccer player Inamoto has arrived in Istanbul on Thursday. Inamoto has signed a contract with Galatasaray soccer club. He is the first Japanese player to play in the Turkish soccer league.
