ANTALYA - Spanish Foreign Minister Ana Palacio said on Thursday that Turkey had taken a decision to send soldiers to Iraq and that thus, it stood beside many European Union (EU) countries which took the similar decision.
Replying to questions of reporters during the Ministerial Meeting of the Mediterranean Forum (FOROMED) held in southern Antalya province, Palacio said that Turkey abided by the call of the United Nations (U.N.) to contribute to Iraq's security and stability with its decision and joined many EU countries from Italy to Denmark which obeyed the same call.
Upon a question on Spanish diplomat who died in Iraq, Palacio wished condolences for the diplomat's family and said that it was a tragedy like all other deaths.
Asked if it was a terrorist attack, Palacio said that the incident was under investigation and evaluations continued.
