ANKARA - U.S. State Secretary Colin Powell called on Tuesday Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and expressed pleasure of the United States about the decision of the parliament to send soldiers to Iraq.
Diplomatic sources told A.A correspondent that Powell called Gul around 9.45 p.m. and thanked for the decision of the parliament.
Gul said that Turkey took the decision to help stability in Iraq by saying that Iraq's stability was for everybody's benefit.
Foreign Minister Gul also noted that Turkey expected the United States to take concrete steps in the following negotiations and to take Turkey's sensitivities seriously.
