GAZIMAGUSA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler attended on Tuesday inauguration ceremony of Kalecik Electrical Power Plant in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
TRNC President Rauf Denktas, Parliament Speaker Vehbi Zeki Serter and Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu were also in attendance in the ceremony.
Speaking in the ceremony, Sener said that investments of private sector in TRNC showed confidence of investors in TRNC.
Noting that TRNC had bought great deal of its electricity from the Greek Cypriot administration since 1996, Sener noted that construction of electricity power plan by build-operate-transfer model in TRNC was an important sign of developing economy of TRNC.
Sener added that Turkey would always support TRNC's development.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said that infrastructure was important in development and therefore, investments in TRNC would continue.
The power plant constructed by Aksa company has a capacity to meet 20 percent of electricity need of TRNC.
