DAMASCUS - A leader of the Palestinian Popular Liberation Front (PFLP) on Friday hailed Lebanon's Shiite militia Hezbollah as a "model of resistance" for Palestinians.
"We are looking at a model of resistance embodied by Hezbollah -- a model worth reflecting on," Mohammad Taher, the leader of the pro-Syrian PFLP said at a gathering in Damascus.
Taher was attending a ceremony in refugee camp near the capital to mark the fifth anniversary of the killing of former PFLP leader Abu Ali Mustafa by Israeli forces.
"Hezbollah, through its victory, has taught us it is possible to take down Israel," said Ramadan Shala, secretary general of the radical Palestinian group Islamic Jihad.
Syria, too, has congratulated Hezbollah on what it deemed a victory over Israeli forces in their 34-day war that was halted on August 14 with a ceasefire.
