EXHIBITION EXTENDED TILL OCTOBER 29TH
ISTANBUL - The ''Alay-i Humayunu'', exhibition which is the "visual recording" of the pictures of the imperial procession held for the huntings of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed IV (the Hunter) in 1657, is extended till October 29th, sources said on Tuesday.
It was reported that the exhibition of paintings commissioned in the 17th century by the Swedish Ambassador Claes Ralamb --"Mehmed the Hunter's Imperial Procession"-- attracted great interest.
The exhibition was opened by Swedish Ambassador Christer Asp on June 1st, 2006 in Istanbul's Pera Museum.
It was recalled that the pictures were exhibited in Turkey for the first time after 350 years.
Travel of Sultan Mehmed IV, remembered as Hunter, to Edirne with a crowded group for hunting in 1657 has turned into a very big show, and Claes Ralamb, the then Swedish Ambassador in Istanbul, painted a series of canvasses to witness this historical event.
