DAMASCUS - "What I have listened from Syrian President Bashar al-Asad is encouraging for the future," Turkish FM & Deputy PM Abdullah Gul said on Tuesday.
He replied to the questions of reporters after meeting his Syrian counterpart Walid Mualem.
Gul stated that he was received by Syrian President al-Asad, Vice President Farouq al-Shara, and met Walid Mualem. "We have viewed what has been going on in the region in the past 30 days and how we can establish peace," he said.
"It was very encouraging to hear from the Syrian President that there is a new opportunity to resume efforts to ensure peace. Everybody should learn a lesson from the recent developments in the region and should realize that there was no other way but peace."
