IZMIR - "Turkey will most likely send troops into Lebanon," said Nukhet Hotar Goksel, deputy leader of the ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP), on Tuesday.
In a press conference held at AKP local headquarters in Izmir, Goksel stressed that a tragic war took place in Palestine and Lebanon that caused sadness for all and the people of the region.
"Instead of being spectators of the war, we choosed to be real actors in the Middle East process. We are members of a political party that has placed human beings at the center of its policies. We want to contribute to the peace process in our region. The AKP has initiated an aid campaign for the victims of the war," noted Goksel.
She expressed that, when Turkish troops are deployed along the Lebanese-Israeli border, they will get involved in the distribution of aid materials shipped from Turkey.
"Chances are that Turkey will soon send troops to the region. The presence of Turkish troops is essential for peacekeeping," added Goksel.
