YOZGAT - More than 70 ancient settlement units except for Tavium, Cadirhoyuk and Kerkenes have been unearthed in the central city of Yozgat.
While Austrian and German archaeologists have been conducting excavations in Tavium, which was the chief city of the Galatian tribe, British archaeologists have been working in Kerkenes and Americans in Cadirhoyuk.
Italian archaeologists will come to Yozgat at the weekend to work in Yassihoyuk, one of those ancient settlement units.
Prof. Dr. Karl Strobel from the Austrian Klegen Furt University and Prof. Dr. Christoph Gerber from the German Klangon University who have been heading excavation works in the ancient city of Tavium since 1997, found traces of more than 70 ancient settlement units.
Prof. Dr. Strobel told the A.A that they unearthed ancient works belonged to the periods of Roman Empire, Bronze age, Byzantium, Hittites, Galatian, Iron Age, Ottoman Empire and Hellenistic.
