ANKARA - Parliamentary General Assembly started to debate the motion foreseeing deployment of soldiers in Iraq for one year in a closed session on Tuesday.
The motion was first read in the session chaired by Acting Parliament Speaker Sadik Yakut.
Yakut said that there was a proposal that the motion should be debated in a closed session and wanted the General Assembly Hall to be evacuated.
Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy leaders Ali Topuz, Kemal Anadol and Haluk Koc said that firstly the proposal on holding closed session had to be voted.
The closed session started at 15.20 local time.
The General Assembly will first discuss proposal on holding closed session given by Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu and later discuss the motion.
