SELCUK/KUSADASI - Fire fighters are trying to contain forest fires which began in western city of Izmir's Selcuk town and later spread to Kusadasi town of Aydin.
Within the first minutes of day light, 10 helicopters, 2 fire fighting planes and 5 small engine planes have re-started to pour water on the fires in both towns.
Fire fighters have been successful in extinguishing most of the fire.
Around 1,000 tourists, running away from fire, were rescued from the House of Virgin Mary in Selcuk by gendarmerie forces.
Meanwhile, Turkish Minister of Environment and Forestry Osman Pepe has arrived in the region and is closely monitoring developments in the region.
