BEIRUT - The Israeli air force violated Lebanese airspace four times Monday, UN peacekeepers said, prompting protests from Prime Minister Fuad Siniora.
Overflights were reported northeast of the capital, as well as in the Shiite southern suburbs and in the south of the country, both bastions of the Hezbollah militia.
Siniora wrote to UN chief Kofi Annan and other foreign leaders "to inform them of the dangers to security posed by these Israeli violations of Security Council Resolution 1701," officials said.
The truce resolution, which came into force on August 14 after 34 days of devastating conflict, stipulated that Hezbollah should cease all attacks and that Israel should stop all offensive military operations.
