THERE WILL BE NO ELECTION
Higher Election Board (YSK) rejected applications to cancel the results of November 3 elections after a meeting which lasted for six and a half hours. Deputy Chairman Ahmet Hamdi Unlu only voted in favor of accepting the applications. YSK decided that there will be no elections and this result eased Turkey.

TURKEY ALSO INCLUDED IN EUROPEAN FAMILY
The European Union (EU) said that Turkey was also included in the European family. Turkey attended the Interngovernmental Conference which was held in Rome on Saturday by having equal status with other countries. European officials told Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul that Turkey did a very important job. Erdogan and Gul were included in the family photo with leaders of 28 countries in the conference which focused on the EU's Constitution.

TOBB MODEL TO IRAQ
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in Turkey (TOBB) Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu said that they wanted to set up a ''chamber system'' in Iraq. Hisarciklioglu recalled that he met with U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz in the United States on September 20 and said that he gave Wolfowitz a report on ''how Turkish businessmen can contribute to reconstruction process of Iraq?'' in their meeting. Hisarciklioglu added that they said in the report that they could help formation of ''chamber system'' in Iraq and noted that he told Wolfowitz that Turkish businessmen were not afraid to go to Iraq.

YSK SAYS NO ELECTION
Higher Election Board (YSK) discussed on Saturday applications which were made following the decision of Supreme Court of Appeals on DEHAP. YSK said in a statement that ''YSK unanimously rejected applications demanding cancellation of results of general elections held on November 3, 2002.''

ERDOGAN SAYS IT WILL BE BENEFICIAL NOT TO OPEN WHOLE EU DRAFT CONSTITUTIONAL TREATY TO DISCUSSION AGAIN
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that it would be beneficial not to open whole EU Draft Constitutional Treaty to discussion again. Erdogan delivered a brief speech at the European Union (EU) Intergovernmental Conference on the EU's Constitution in Rome. Stating that the convention provided consensus on a single document with a creative and realistic approach, he said that it would be beneficial not to open the whole draft to discussion again.

COMPROMISE COULD NOT BE REACHED WITH SEZER
Council of Ministers on Monday will decide with which method and contend the motion on dispatch of soldiers to Iraq would be send to the Parliament.
Ministers and party administrators made statements contradicting with each other.
Alternatives of the government intensify on methods excluding President Ahmet Necdet Sezer instead of reaching a compromise.

ERDOGAN: NOW THAT IT IS TIME FOR PRACTICE
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a news conference after participating in the summit of Heads of State and Government of the European Union for the opening of the Intergovernmental Conference in Italy.
Erdogan said technical studies were underway on the motion pertaining to dispatch of soldiers to Iraq.
Erdogan said European leaders appreciated the steps taken by Turkey to be a full member of the European Union (EU), noting that now that they wanted to see the practices.

BABACAN SAYS WE WILL LAUNCH A STUDY ON UNREGISTERED ECONOMY WITH IMF
State Minister Ali Babacan said that they would launch a study to take unregistered economy under registration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) this month. Stating that decrease in interest rates was related to recovery in expectations and perception of risk, Babacan said that a very rapid decrease in interest rates of the Central Bank was dangerous. Babacan added that they expected national income per capita as 3.200-3.500 U.S. dollars this year.

NO ELECTIONS
Higher Election Board (YSK) rejected applications which were made to cancel results of November 3 general elections. This decision relieved the country.
YSK yesterday replied to the question, which engaged agenda of the country for days, whether or not November 3 elections would be cancelled.
YSK convened at 10.00 local time in the morning and examined the applications for 6.5 hours. YSK said ''no'' to those who called for cancellation of results of November 3 elections.

RAUF DENKTAS: ''I AM NOT OFFENDED''
President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said different voices were coming from Ankara because of misunderstandings, stating that, ''I am not offended to anybody''.
Denktas said they TRNC and Turkey defended the same view on Cyprus question, stating that there could be misunderstandings from time to time.

TURKEY PREFERS STABILITY
Higher Election Board (YSK) put the last point to discussions on elections. YSK on Saturday examined the applications which were made after decision of Supreme Court of Appeals.
Supreme Court of Appeals had approved 1 year 11 months 11 days sentence given to former DEHAP leader Mehmet Abbasoglu and three former party administrators on charges of arranging counterfeit documents prior to the November 3 elections and attempting to show the party as if it had completed its legal formation.
The Board stated that reasoned verdict of the decision would be announced in the coming days.

FROM ERDOGAN TO EU LEADERS: ''WE ARE ALSO FROM THE FAMILY''
Turkey took another important step on the way to European Union (EU) which it struggles to be a member of for years, and participated in the meeting where EU Constitution was discussed.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave the message that Turkey was from now on from their family.
As a partial agreement could be reached on European Constitution at the summit, some problems like ''reference to Christianity'' could not be solved.
