ROME - The European Union (EU) Intergovernmental Conference on the EU's Constitution began in Rome on Saturday.
EU's 15 members, 10 countries which will join the Union in May 2004 and three candidate countries; Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria are attending the conference.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul represent Turkey in the conference.
Erdogan is expected to deliver a speech in the conference.
Sources said that Erdogan had a meeting with European Parliament President Pat Cox before the conference.
