Erdoğan said computer and technology labs now exist in 95 percent of the country's schools, including in eastern provinces such as Ağrı and Kars. He added that more than 3,800 new schools, totaling roughly 85,000 classrooms, were built between 2003 and 2006, and that 406,000 computers were distributed to schools during that period. He also announced that 150,000 high school students would receive scholarships or grants in 2006.
On agriculture, the prime minister noted that livestock subsidies grew from 83 million Turkish liras in 2002 to 596 million liras in 2005.
Erdoğan said the government planned to complete 200,000 homes in 2006 and hand over 100,000 finished units to their owners within the same year. He pledged continued construction of hospitals, libraries, sports stadiums, trade centers, and mosques.
