ROME - A British arliner made an emergency landing in southern Italy Friday after the pilot said he suspected a bomb was aboard, the Italian news agency Ansa reported.
The Boeing 767 of the Excel airline on a flight from London's Gatwick airport to Hurghada in Egypt landed at Brindisi airport and was being searched, Ansa said.
The report said the Italian air force had scrambled an F-16 fighter to escort the Boeing before it landed.
