PARIS - National Education Minister Huseyin Celik said on Friday that the government encouraged private sector and non-governmental organizations to build schools in Turkey.
Speaking in the ministerial round table meeting of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on increase of quality of education, Celik said that the government had made a legal arrangement which would reduce taxes of private companies which contributed to education.
Celik noted that thus, the government could provide significant source for education.
Drawing attention that most important problem in front of qualified education was financial problems, Celik said that existing financial sources were insufficient to totally meet education needs of the society.
The government was trying to increase the budget allocated for education, Celik stated.
Celik pointed out that Turkey was trying to get the support of the European Union (EU), World Bank and European Investment Bank to increase quality of education.
Outmoded education methods should be replaced with new education methods and education should aim at increasing learning capacity of individuals, Celik emphasized.
Celik drew attention to effects of globalization on education and said that educating individuals according to future needs was important.
