ANKARA - ''Turkey has to boost its production and exports. Rate of USD should be over 1.5 YTL,'' Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen told A.A on Sunday while assessing the drop in foreign exchange rates.
''Recently YTL is gaining value and this is not positive in the aspect of export,'' he added.
''Rate of foreign exchange is very important for our foreign trade. As YTL is gaining value, our export rate is decreasing and import increasing, and current account deficit is growing. This causes difficulty in economy. Our current export increase is 15 percent,'' Tuzmen noted.
He said, ''as forex rates are increasing to its normal value, our export gain momentum. USD should be over 1.5 YTL not to stop this momentum.''
Tuzmen said that increasing export amount contributes to employment rate. ''The most important problem of Turkey is unemployment,'' he added.
''When foreign exchange rates reach to normal level, it will help prevention of unemployment,'' Tuzmen noted.
