Türkiye head coach Fatih Terim announced a 24-player squad on Friday for an international friendly against Luxembourg, to be played in Luxembourg on 16 August 2006.

Among those selected is Mehmet Aurelio, a Brazilian-born midfielder who recently acquired Turkish citizenship. Should he appear in the match, he would become the first player of non-Turkish origin ever to represent the Türkiye national team.

The squad draws heavily from domestic clubs, with Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Kayserispor, and Trabzonspor all contributing players. Several Germany-based players are also included, among them Yildiray Basturk (Hertha Berlin), Nuri Sahin (Borussia Dortmund), and twins Halil and Hamit Altintop (Schalke 04). Nihat Kahveci represents Villarreal of Spain, while Fatih Tekke comes from Russian club Zenit.

Veteran goalkeeper Rustu Recber and forward Hakan Sukur are among the more experienced names in the roster.
