ANKARA - Turkey borrowed 5.36 billion USD from International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and repaid 12.3 billion USD between 2003 and May 28, 2006.
Replying to a notice of question submitted by True Path Party (DYP) MP Ummet Kandogan, Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan stated that Turkey borrowed 1.75 billion USD in 2003, 1.17 billion USD in 2004 and 2.45 billion USD in 2005 from IMF.
''We envisage to borrow 3.67 billion USD in 2006, 2.75 billion USD in 2007 and 919 million USD in 2008 (a total of 7.34 billion USD) from IMF. We repay these loans in 8 installments'' Babacan added.
