ISTANBUL - ``We wish Turkey to continue economic development and preserve political stability. We want Turkey to be a model for other Islamic countries. Islamic World need to learn from Turkey`s experiences,`` said Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdullah Kamel, President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry, today.
Kamel met Turkish businessmen and businesswomen in a meeting organized by the CEO of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and Foreign Economic Relations Council (DEIK) Rifat Hisarciklioglu at the TOBB Plaza in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Delivering the opening remarks at the DEIK meeting, Kamel remarked that the Turkish construction industry has achieved significant success internationally. ``As the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we are proud of Turkey,`` noted Kamel.
Pointing out that most of 75 members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) are extremely poor and underdeveloped. ``We are proud of a few Islamic countries such as Turkey and Malaysia who are part of the developed world and contribute greatly to the development of the global economy. We wish Turkey to continue developing economically and preserve its political stability,`` stressed Kamel.
Meanwhile, Rifat Hisarciklioglu indicated that the projects undertaken by Turkish contractors have set up successful examples for the global community. ``Turkish contractors have completed projects worth over 70 billion USD in the past 20 years. In 2005, Turkish contractors completed projects worth 11 billion USD. Construction industry of Turkey is a matter of pride for Turks! This industry of Turkey is an example that the world looks at as a model,`` expressed Hisarciklioglu.
