FIRST VISIT AFTER 40 YEARS
Ankara will host a prominent guest today. Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud will arrive in Turkey on Tuesday upon an invitation from the Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
``The meetings between Turkish officials and King Abdullah will focus on bilateral issues and current international and regional topics,`` said the Presidential Press Center. Some experts look at King Abdullah`s visit as an opportunity to attract Arabic investors. Abdullah is the first Saudi Arabian King to visit Turkey after 40 years. King Abdullah will depart for Saudi Arabia on Friday, August 11th.

SPANISH MODEL FOR PROPERTY SALES TO FOREIGNERS
Turkish experts are studying the Spanish model for property sales to foreigners. To date, 62,486 foreigners purchased 57,472 properties in Turkey. Turkish Minister of Finance Kemal Unakitan and Minister of Culture and Tourism Atilla Koc were in Spain between July 28th-30th where they held discussions and meetings on the Spanish model for property sales to foreigners. After studying the Spanish model, Unakitan asked Turkish bureaucrats to implement the Spanish model of property sales in Turkey.

`RED LIGHT` TO YILMAZ
Former Prime Minister and leader of the Motherland Party (ANAVATAN) Mesut Yilmaz has indicated that he will begin meetings in order to establish an alternative to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). So far, the True Path Party (DYP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have shown `red light` to Yilmaz and refused cooperation with him in the foreseeable future.

NO TENDER GRANTED TO FOREIGNERS!
Although the European Union criticizes the practice of not granting tenders to foreigners in Turkey, 99.8 percent of all public tenders in the first six months of 2006 went to local companies.

SON DIES OF BULLET WOUNDS, FATHER DIES OF BAD NEWS
Masked terrorists in south-eastern city of Sirnak`s Beytussebap town have assassinated a non-commissioned officer, Levent Cevik in his home on Monday. Learning about Cevik`s assassination, Cevik`s father had a heart attack and died on the same day. The terrorists also wounded Levent Cevik`s 8-year-old son Mete Çevik.

ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION HAS BROKEN A RECORD DUE TO HOT WEATHER
During July, when the country was debating electricity production problems, power consumption has increased by % 6.8 due to excess usage of air conditioning. After the final game of the World Cup, it was thought that power consumption would decrease. However, as the weather got hotter, people began turning on their air conditioners lot more than usual.

OIL RICH BUSINESSMEN TO ARRIVE IN TURKEY
Saudi Arabia`s most richest businessmen will arrive in Turkey today with King Abdullah. Among the 35 businessmen coming to Turkey with King Abdullah are 10 that have the most influence on the Saudi Arabian economy. The Arabs are expected to heavily invest in the Turkish market.

U.S. TO APPOINT SPECIAL ENVOY FOR TALKS WITH PKK
Washington is making preparations to appoint a special envoy for talks with terrorist PKK. This envoy will not necessarily have direct talks with PKK, but will send messages to PKK via the Iraqi government.

CURRENT ACCOUNT DEFICIT UP 14.8 PERCENT IN JUNE
Turkey`s current account deficit rose 14.8 percent to 2.5 billion USD in June 2006 over the same month of 2005. Turkish Central Bank released on Monday its report about balance of payments developments for June 2006. According to the bank`s statistics, foreign trade deficit increased 4.2 percent to 3.1 billion USD while net tourism incomes reduced 1 percent to 1.2 billion USD in June. On the other hand, current account deficit rose 41.4 percent from 13.1 billion USD in the January-June period of 2005 to 18.6 billion USD in the same period 2006.

CIRAGAN GETTING READY FOR THE KING
Saudi Arabian King Abdullah will arrive in Turkey today. Abdullah has reserved 139 rooms at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. Abdullah also leased 60 limousines for the members of his delegation.

TURKEY-GREECE NATURAL GAS PIPELINE
119 kilometers of Turkey-Greece natural gas pipeline will be completed, between Bursa/Karacabey-Canakkale/Lapseki, by October 2006, sources indicated on Monday. ``The first part of the Turkey-Greece natural gas pipeline will be completed in two months, well before the date specified in the contract,`` said Ibrahim Kucukarslan, an executive of Turkish Sahinler Construction & Industry Limited Company. The second portion of the pipeline will be laid by Oztas-Peker Consortium and will connect Canakkale/Lapseki-Gallipoli via an under water pipeline costing 55 million USD. The pipeline of 300 kilometers will help carry Caspian Sea natural gas to European markets. 209 kilometers of the pipeline will pass through Turkey. Turkey-Greece natural gas pipeline is expected to be fully functional as of the end of 2006.

TURKISH STAMP ON HYDROGEN
``We plan to make western Black Sea region an energy base with an investment of two billion USD. We will produce ``methane gas`` from coal,`` said Mehmet Hattat, CEO of Hattat Holding. We will use this methane gas as ``natural gas``, noted Hattat. Hattat added that Turkey will be the leader in hydrogen production. ``The methane gas will be about 40 percent more cheaper than natural gas.``
BBP LEADER YAZICIOGLU LEAVES FOR SYRIA
Muhsin Yazicioglu, leader of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), left for Syria on Monday to hold a series of talks. Yazicioglu is scheduled to meet Syrian President Bashar al-Asad and Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Utri. He is expected to return to Turkey on Thursday.

KING ABDULLAH TO ARRIVE IN TURKEY WITH 25 BILLION USD WORTH OF INVESTMENT PROJECTS
With an increase in their income due to higher oil prices, Arabic investors are preparing to heavily invest in the Turkish market. Turkey is an important market for the Arabs, especially after establishing economic and political stability in the last four years. King Abdullah and his delegation, arriving in Turkey today, are expected to conduct meetings on investments in the energy, finance, tourism and telecommunications sectors in Turkey. Saudi Arabia has allocated at least 25 billion USD for investments in Turkey.
