BEIJING - China on Monday confirmed a new human case of bird flu, a 62-year-old farmer who died last month, state media said.
The victim from the northwestern region of Xinjiang fell ill on June 19 and died on July 12, Xinhua news agency said, citing the health ministry.
The announcement came shortly after China said its first human bird flu victim was in late 2003, two years earlier than previously reported.
