ANKARA - Land Forces Commander Ge. Aytac Yalman said on Wednesday that Turkey could not stay away from incidents in north of Iraq and added that Turkey was closely interested in Iraq issue.
Aytac attended a reception held on the occasion of opening of New Legislative Year.
Stating that the most appropriate solution in line with the interests of Turkey would be found, Yalman said that they had to protect Turkey's interests there today and tomorrow.
Yalman said that it was not the incident of today and noted they had to think of it in long term.
Yalman said that Turkey was closely interested in Iraq issue and noted that connecting the issue of loan and dispatch of soldiers caused uneasiness.
Stating that Turkey was always beside Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas, he said that they would continue to be beside Denktas.
