ANKARA - Fuel tank of a military helicopter, belonging to Diyarbakir Gendarme Air Group Command, was perforated and burned during landing and 11 people were injured in Semdinli town of eastern Hakkari province on Wednesday.
Four injured, who were in bad condition, were taken into Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) and other injured people were under treatment in Hakkari Military Hospital.
Releasing a statement, General Staff Headquarters Press Center said that an MI-17 type helicopter, belonging to Diyarbakir Gendarme Air Group Command, harshly landed at Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade Command Helicopter Runway at 11.57 p.m. today.
The helicopter was completely burned by the fire that started when fuel tank was perforated.
The helicopter was carrying 14 passengers and four crew members.
Investigation is carried on regarding the accident.
