AH- Gunter Verheugen, European Union Commissioner Responsible Of Enlargement, praised the endeavor of the government about political reforms and said that relations between Turkey and European Union were giving hope.
Verheugen said that, Turkey put into practice the most advanced and important political reform process until its foundation with the strategy, which was updated in the Copenhagen last year.
Stressing that Turkey was a stable and foreseeable joint for them, Verheugen said that, the current government regarded political reforms not only an obligation needed to be fulfilled to start the membership consultations, but also a target put for itself. He said that, some joints of the former coalition government did not adopt the political reforms, and they supported the process unwillingly.
Verheugen said about the DEHAP decision that, he believed the current government having majority of the parliament would continue the political and economical reforms.
He said about the Improvement Report to be issued on November 5, that, he guessed the report might include positive evaluations related to reform process and the efforts of the government and improvement might be stressed and also the deficiencies and weaknesses would be informed.
