ANKARA - ''The issue of appointing a coordinator to fight against terror organization PKK did not come up in PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan-President George Bush phone conversation'', sources said on Monday.
''This topic was not discussed by Erdogan and Bush. All news reports indicating otherwise are not true and do not reflect the reality,'' stressed sources on both sides.
According to Turkish sources, the United States promised Turkey a strong cooperation in the fight against PKK. ''Some steps have been taken by the U.S.. Yet we expect more concrete ones,'' told Turkish sources.
Turkey also conveyed its desire to the U.S. to end PKK's presence in northern Iraq, a region that PKK uses as a safe haven.
