COORDINATOR FROM USA AGAINST PKK
Turkey and the United States improve cooperation aiming to put an end to the presence of the terrorist PKK organization in north of Iraq. Turkey and the United States decided to appoint ''PKK special coordinator'' reciprocally.
U.S. President George Bush put forward the proposal of ''Special Coordinator'' in his telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who spoke on the phone the same day, also discussed this issue. Coordinators may be able to talk with Bush and Erdogan in emergency cases.

REHN: THE WAR SHOWS TURKEY'S STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE
Turkey's active role in putting an end to the war showed its importance to the EU member countries.
EU enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said, ''Turkey can serve as the bloc's 'bridge' with Islam World.''
''The importance of negotiations with Turkey has increased in light of the military conflict in Lebanon because Turkey is a moderate Islamic society and secular democratic state,'' said Rehn.
However, at the same time Rehn added, ''there is no point for Turkey to think that it would get relief from requirements because of its size or strategic importance.'' ''It is essential that both sides take their responsibilities seriously and stick to commitments,'' he remarked.

TURKISH TO BECOME FORMAL LANGUAGE IN KOSOVO
The Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party signed an agreement with Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku and Parliament Speaker Kol Berisha to make Turkish formal language. Parliament of Kosovo will make the final decision.

NARCOTIC DEALING NEARBY A POLICE STATION
In Istanbul Esenler, every kind of narcotics is freely being sold in the opposite street of Yukari Karabayir police station.
In Istanbul, narcotics are not only sold in certain places but also in many streets anymore. There are numerous drug dealers in many districts. Even narcotic service is being given to the cars in the highway.
Even the police stations do not make the dealers afraid. In Esenler Yukari Karabayir District, the opposite street of a police station is like a narcotics market.

SHE STARTED TO WEAR HEADSCARF OUT OF COMPUNCTION
The biological father in the polemical relation, Ahmet Delican said, ''Yildiz may have covered her head out of compunction after she had a relation with me.'
The key name in the kidnapping of Seref Can, Ahmet Delican stated that he met with Yildiz Engin three years ago and had a love affair almost one and a half month. Delican said, ''when we had a love affair, neither of us was divorced and it was unethical. When she was with me, she was not wearing a head scarf. She may have covered her head out of compunction.''

WHEN THE KING WAKES UP!
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia will pay a visit to Ankara on Tuesday. Bureaucrats of Turkish Foreign Ministry worked very hard as they were preparing the schedule of the visit because protocol rules of the King are very different and he has very interesting requests.
For example: The King himself decides about the time of the visits. For this, there is the expression in the formal schedule, ''whenever their Majesties wakes up...''
Saudi diplomats wanted Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer to welcome the King, however the Turkish Foreign Ministry refused this politely. Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will welcome the King.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will for the first time act apart from the rules of protocol and accompany a foreign guest throughout his visit in Istanbul.

DIFFICULT DAYS IN AUTUMN
Confederation of the workers and civil servants feel uneasy over the rise in inflation rate. Representatives of the association stated that rate of inflation rose in summer, which is expected to drop relatively, and envisioned that cost of living would be higher in Autumn with expenses.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Parliamentarian Kepenek, while commenting on the rising inflation figures, stated that, ''Turkey passes through a difficult period,'' and defended that the problem in economy stemmed from the failure to make production.

SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVES FROM USA AGAINST PKK
Diplomatic sources said the United States wanted an influential coordination to be ensured towards eliminating PKK and noted a representative would assume this.
Ankara responded affirmatively to this plan and wanted the representative to be a ''retired military official or an expert diplomat.''

INCIRLIK IS THE TROUBLE BASE
After a U.S. sergeant and soldiers stopped the car of Turkish pilot squadron leader Ferih Dincer and his wife Meltem Dincer, who left a bar at Incirlik Base, and laid them on the ground and handcuffed them, it was revealed that a Turkish non-commissioned officer met a similar treatment. The car of the non-commissioned officer was stopped and searched although his child was suffering from fever.

ENERGY IS WASTED
Turkey, which complains about energy deficit, is not able to use its current energy supplies. Turkey's wind energy capacity is 88,000 MW, but only 21.2 MW is used. Potential of solar energy equals to 87 million tones oil (TEP), but only 875,000 TEP is used.

INVESTMENT OPERATION
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ilisu Dam & Hydroelectric Plant on Dicle River, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave the good news of two big projects. Erdogan said, Turkey-Greece-Italy natural gas pipeline project would take effect at the beginning of 2007 and Nabucco natural gas project in 2011.

SUPPORT FROM KOC TO BABACAN
Rahmi Koc, the Honorary President of Koc Holding, supported State Minister Ali Babacan who said, ''we will move Central Bank to Istanbul''.
Koc said, ''Istanbul is the heart of finance. This is a very appropriate decision.''

FOUNDATION OF ILISU LAID, DISCUSSIONS ON HASAKEYF CONTINUE
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan laid the foundation of the Ilisu Dam which is very important for the economic development of the Southeast and for Turkey's energy need of Turkey. However, the discussions, which started 50 years ago, as regards to the dam still continues. Some people describe the dam as ''dream'' and some other ''nightmare.''
Hasankeyf Antique city, as well as 199 historical locations in southeastern cities of Diyarbakir, Mardin, Siirt and Batman will be inundated by Ilisu Dam.
Nearly 7,000 workers will work in the construction of the dam.

Turkey prepares ''national action plan'' on violence against women and sexual discrimination.
Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu said they started training programs for the civil servants and volunteers of NGOs on this issue.

SAUDI KING TO VISIT TURKEY
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia will pay a visit to Turkey on August 8th together with a delegation comprising 300 businessmen.
The King and the businessmen are expected to visit Turkey by 15 planes.
Six agreements, envisaging cooperation in tourism, transportation, health and investments, are expected to be signed with King Abdullah. The target is to double the current 2.8 billion USD trade volume.
