ADANA - ''Number of companies willing to implant and invest in Adana-Yumurtalik Free Zone are on the rise following the inauguration of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Crude Oil Pipeline'', sources said on Friday.
The Zone Director Muharrem Pusat told A.A. correspondent that 3 new companies applied to their Administration --just after BTC line becomes operational-- asking for permission to invest and seeking for land allotment.
Pusat said the zone is extending on an area large 4700 sq.km., noting that actually 17 companies are active there.
''Construction for the premises of 3 companies is underway and 3 others applied for allotment of land. The recent applications are related to activities such as iron-steel and shipyard construction,'' he added.
Pusat said, ''annual turnover of the region is around 100 million USD. This figure will rise to 1,5 billion USD when the companies in question start their business.''
