LAWYER OF SUSPECTS OZATA SAYS THEY WOULD APPLY FOR CORRECTION OF DECISION

ANKARA - Guven Ozata, lawyer of former DEHAP leader Mehmet Abbasoglu and three former party administrators, said on Monday that they would apply for correction of decision.
Supreme Court of Appeals approved 1 year 11 months 11 days sentence given to former DEHAP leader Mehmet Abbasoglu and three former party administrators on charges of arranging counterfeit documents prior to the November 3 elections and attempting to show the party as if it had completed its legal formation.
Speaking to journalists after the decision of Supreme Court of Appeals, Ozata said decision was announced in a very short time after the defense, and that this showed that defense could not be evaluated well.
Ozata defended that description of crime was wrong and insufficient, stating that this decision would lead to chaos in the country. Ozata said, ''this is not a punishment that was deserved. This decision means disregarding a party which had got the votes of two million voters.''
Defending that the decision contradicted with democracy and human rights, Ozata said some people could bring onto agenda annulment of November 3 elections.
Ozata said they would apply for correction of decision, and that they would apply to European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) after all the internal legal ways are exhausted.
