ISTANBUL - ''The utilization of textile quotas postponed until the year 2008 will be made fully available for the Far East. We must establish a fashion trade mark in the next two years,'' Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Thursday.
Tuzmen inaugurated the second ''Istanbul Fashion Show'' at CNR Expo Center today.
''The textile and ready-made garment industry is still leading all exports from Turkey,'' told Tuzmen.
According to Tuzmen, all 46 percent of textile products and 77 percent of ready-made garments are exported to European Union countries. ''8 percent of all textile and ready-made garments exports go to the United States,'' noted Tuzmen.
Minister Tuzmen remarked that exports of textiles and ready-made garments from Turkey rose by 12 percent when compared to the year 2005.
Tuzmen added that total exports from Turkey in the next two years will reach 100 billion USD.
