ANKARA - Zuheyir Amber, a member of parliament from the Motherland Party (ANAVATAN), resigned from his post in the Inter-parliamentary Turkey-Israel Friendship Group, to protest Israeli offensive against Lebanon.
In a petition that he sent to the Parliament Speaker`s Office on Tuesday, Amber said, ``Israel commits massacre in Lebanon with its high-tech weapons without taking into account rights and law. Israeli attack on Lebanese Qana town killed 60 innocent civilians and children and it was the last straw that broke the camel`s back.``
``Israel bombed oil depots, causing an environmental disaster in the Mediterranean Sea. It is impossible to admit what Israel has been doing. I condemn Israel,`` Amber stressed.
Two parliamentarians (Serpil Yildiz from ANAVATAN and main opposition Republican People`s Party (CHP) deputy Mehmet Kesimoglu) resigned from their posts in the Inter-parliamentary Turkey-Israel Friendship Group yesterday.
