ANKARA - The Sixth International Defense Industry Aerospace and Maritime Fair (IDEF) will be opened in Ankara on September 30.
The fair is organized by the CNR International Fair Organization with the support of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF) and the National Defense Ministry.
Defense ministers of 17 countries and three chiefs of general staff, 145 high-level military and civilian officials are expected to visit the fair.
Around 245 companies from Turkey, Germany, the United States, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Belarus, Brazil, France, Croatia, Japan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Canada, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Britain, Spain, Israel, Switzerland and Italy will join the fair.
Defense ministers, chiefs of general staffs and other high-level officials who will attend the fair held biennially will have the opportunity to exchange views with each other.
National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul is expected to meet with Swedish Defense Minister Leni Bjorklund, Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolai Svinarov and Mongolian Defense Minister Jugderdemidiin Gurragchaa.
A symposium on ''Evaluation of the Effects of Recent Developments in the World to Our Region and Beyond and To Defense Industry'' will be held at the Bilkent Hotel on September 29 as a part of the fair.
Deputy Chief of General Staff Ilker Basbug will address opening ceremony of the symposium. Retired commanders, ambassadors and representatives of defense industry companies will speak in the symposium.
The fair will remain open till October 3.
