Iraq Asks Red Crescent To Extend Aid To Refugees

ANKARA - Iraqi Health Ministry Senior Adviser Said Ismail Hakki asked Red Crescent (Kizilay) to extend aid to 30.000 refugees in Iraq.
Hakki and an accompanying delegation, who came to Turkey to hold talks, visited Red Crescent Chairman Ertan Gonen.
Stating that they wanted to benefit from experiences of Red Crescent, Hakki said that Iraqi personnel could have education in Turkey or personnel of Red Crescent could give education in Iraq.
Noting that there were 30.000 refugees in Iraq, Hakki asked Red Crescent to extend aid to those people in Iraq in order to prepare for winter.
Hakki said that he believed that Iraq would have a bright future and stated that they would never forget that Turkey was beside them.
Gonen said that Turkish people and Iraqi people had friendship rooted in history.
Stating that Iraq extended great help to Turkey in the 1999 quake, he added that Iraq extended 10 million U.S. dollars of financial aid.
Gonen said that they would try to do what was necessary on expectations of Iraqi people.
