BURGAS - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin signed on Friday the protocol for membership to ''Southeastern Europe Civil-Military Emergency Planning Council'' in Burgas, Bulgaria.
The council was set up with the initiative of Bulgaria two years ago.
Sahin said that Turkey had supported the council since it was set up and stated that its support would increase more with its membership to the council.
Sahin later met with Bulgarian Natural Disasters and Accidents Filiz Husmenova. Sahin and Husmenova discussed cooperation between the two countries for emergency cases that required urgent action and aid during natural disasters and industrial accidents.
Croatia took over chairmanship of the council for three years.
Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Italy and Greece are also members of the council.
State Minister Sahin later returned to Turkey.
