NEW YORK - British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said on Thursday that they appreciated progress recorded by Turkey on its road to European Union (EU) membership and strongly supported Turkey's EU membership.
Following his meeting with Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, Straw told reporters that they were closely following Turkey's developments on road to EU membership and extending strong support to its EU membership.
Iraq and Cyprus issues also came onto agenda during meeting between Gul and Straw.
Sources said that Straw informed Gul about a resolution on multinational force which would be submitted to the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council.
Straw said that whether or not Turkey could contribute to multinational force was also taken up in the meeting but refrained from detailing their views.
Gul is currently meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan.
