Representatives Of Christian And Jewish Communities Visit Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Chairman Elkatmis

ANKARA - Delegation comprised of representatives of Jewish, Syriac, Orthodox, and Armenian communities visited on Thursday Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Chairman Mehmet Elkatmis.
Elkatmis said they visited religious communities in Istanbul last month, noting that they considered beliefs as a human right.
Elkatmis said the representatives also brought a letter including their demands, stating that, ''they have some rightful demands. We have listened to them. We are preparing a report on this issue.''
Elkatmis said, ''we will solve our problems through dialogue, adding that, ''we live together in this country. All of us are Turkish citizens. We respect religious beliefs whatever it is.''
Elkatmis said the communities had a problem in gaining property, stating that this was solved in legal means with the seventh European Union (EU) adjustment package.
