ANKARA - Turkey's current account deficit was up 73.8 percent and became 4.016 billion USD in May 2006 over to the same month of 2005.
Turkish Central Bank released on Tuesday its report on balance of payments developments for the period between January and May 2006.
According to the bank's statistics, foreign trade deficit grew 49.5 percent and reached 4.401 billion USD while net tourism incomes dropped by 16.1 percent to 983 million USD in May.
On the other hand, current account deficit rose by 49.8 percent from 11.053 billion USD in the January-May period of 2005 to 16.552 billion USD in the same period 2006.
