ISTANBUL - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan left for Britain on Tuesday to meet foreign investors and inform officials on privatization activities in Turkey.
When reporters asked whether a decree on a withholding tax cut for Turkish investors would be sent to the Council of Ministers, Unakitan said, ''the Finance Ministry has not sent a decree to Council of Ministers yet. I think such a decree would be sent after I return from London. However, the decision is up to the Council of Ministers.''
The government has recently zeroed the 15 percent withholding tax for foreign investors while it cut only five points down to 10 percent for Turkish investors.
