DUBAI - Six Israeli soldiers were wounded Friday in clashes with Shiite Hezbollah militants in the south Lebanon flashpoint town of Bint Jbeil, al-Arabiya news channel reported.
Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters were engaged in battles Friday afternoon around Bint Jbeil, Hezbollah's main military base near the border, as the air force hit a succession of targets in a new wave of deadly strikes.
The Israeli army moved the positions it had set up at the southern entry to the strategic town back towards the frontier village of Marun al-Ras, which it has held for several days, and were attacked by Hezbollah fighters.
On Wednesday, nine Israeli soldiers were killed in fierce fighting around Bint Jbeil as Israeli troops attempted to push further into the Hezbollah stronghold.
